The I-12 Alliance parishes are home to some of the highest quality schools in the state. Each parish offers a choice of both public and private elementary and secondary schools. St Tammany’s school system is recognized as one of the best in the nation, named by Money Magazine as one of the top 100 school systems in the country’s metropolitan areas. Businesses and residents in Livingston Parish cite the school system as one of the community’s strongest assets. The region also offers excellent private school educational opportunities to interested students.

The region also boasts access to a variety of excellent higher education institutions. Residents of the five parishes are within

an hour’s drive of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, and the schools in New Orleans including the University of New Orleans (which also has campuses within the I-12 Alliance), Tulane, Loyola, Holy Cross, and Dillard. In addition, Southeastern Louisiana University is located in Hammond (Tangipahoa Parish) boasting more than 20,000 degree students. Community schools include Delgado Community College, multiple branches of Louisiana Technical College, and Baton Rouge Community College.
