The seven cities and two lakes within and around the parish are ideal for activities such as canoeing, boating, fishing, water skiing, sailing, and hunting. In addition, the parish is very proud of the local commitment to culture and community-spirited activities. The month-long cultural event, “Fanfare,” grabs the attentions of entertainers from all over the world, more than 20,000 students attending Southeastern Louisiana University inspire team pride and academic relevance, while the quaint downtowns throughout the parish instill feelings of a simpler time.
