A Culmination of Brillance
The I-12 Alliance's Technology Corridor is a stretch of Interstate 10 book-ended by NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in eastern New Orleans and the John C. Stennis Space Center just outside of St Tammany Parish in its own ‘federal city’ on the Mississippi border. As you travel through St Tammany Parish from one NASA facility to the other, many notable advanced material developments, research

facilities, and a new state-of-the-art technology park are visible -- all capitalizing on the remarkable lifestyle amenities, workforce and business incentives crafted by local and State commitment to its technological advancement infrastructure.

The activities of both NASA facilities expand the imagination. Combined, they directly touch the world’s stargazers by, for example, hosting low-rent, and secluded campuses for companies qualified by the U.S. Space Act, developing and testing actual spacecrafts for planned manned-missions to Mars, and harboring education and training facilities. For those closer to home, the National Center for Advanced Manufacturing (NCAM), backed by an 18 million dollar grant from the State and partners in NASA, Lockheed Martin and the University of New Orleans, trains materials engineers and supports the world’s most sophisticated carbon fiber placement unit.
