Workforce
In 2006, Louisiana noted record-breaking investment in workforce promising to deliver a new breed of available, highly skilled laborers that will not only rebuild Louisiana, but will also leave the State with a marked labor advantage in years ahead.

While the Louisiana Workforce Development and Training Program has long provided funding for customized workforce training programs to improve the competitiveness and productivity of the state’s workforce, post-storm Louisiana is gearing up for some of the largest workforce development initiatives in state history backed by millions of dollars from the public and private sector.

Within the region, specifically, each parish represented in the alliance has a notable technical institute with direct connection to local industry. Southeastern Louisiana University, based at the very center of the regional partnership hosts 15,000 degree candidates as well as an established small business incubator. Furthermore, companies already located in the area requiring varying technical skills (including that of two prominent NASA facilities) continue to recruit, retain, and train citizens that enjoy the many amenities the region provides including a quality of life rich in culture and history, very low crime, fantastic weather, and so much more.
